Our Mission
|
The Slavic Village Grace Mission Center
Mission Statement is “to personally assist, inspire and equip
urban families to become interdependent productive community
members”.
To accomplish this in an area where poverty, alcohol and drug
abuse are very real and a daily way of life, we want to offer
resources, inspiration and hope that will enable the families
to break the cycle in which they are caught and become
productive members of the community. Our goal is to reach a
lost generation and their children by helping them to know
Christ, grow in Christ, serve Christ and share Christ with
others. While we desire to minister to everyone, we recognize
that our best efforts will most likely be accomplished by
focusing on the children.
We desire to provide resources and an info-link center to the
community. With 6 computers and volunteers from suburban
churches, classes on a wide variety of areas can be offered.
These classes can enable the adults to increase their skills,
thus helping them advance within their present companies or
possibly leading them to a better employment opportunity.
Life skills such as using the Internet, budgeting and
preparation of income tax forms can be offered.
We desire to reach a lost generation by leading them into a
meaningful relationship with Christ. In this area, a highly
Catholic region, the issue is the false belief: I know that
I’m going to heaven because I am a good person. Many people,
who are disillusioned with these beliefs, have limited
choices in this area. If they are fortunate enough to have
transportation they can escape on Sunday and attend a church
in another community. Relying on public transportation is
useless because of the reduced service on the weekends. Most
of these people have false hopes of salvation and need to
know that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. The
Slavic Village
Grace Mission Center in Slavic Village
will emphasize wholesome, interpersonal relationships for the
purpose of proclaiming God’s Word with integrity and
sincerity. | | |
